Abroad to Singapore!
I have been studying in Singapore for 4 months, or actually not even that. The semester lasted only 15 weeks and that was including one week of holiday and a week of introduction! The semester was fast but intense, however that is just the way I like it. Since Singapore is so conveniently located in South-East Asia the opportunities to travel were endless, during the semester I went to Hong Kong, Malaysia and Indonesia but the real fun started afterwards. Because the semester was finished quite early compared to the Netherlands, I had 2 months left to travel! Together with Anne-Fleur I went to Thailand, were we saw too much sextourism for even our liberal Dutch souls, we rode elephants like real mahouts and saw more temples we ever could have imagined. Cambodia however was the king of all temples with the impressive complex of Angkor Wat where we easily spent 3 whole days, which includes a near tuk-tuk accident and a trip to a village in the middle of a lake. Not to mention the bambootrain, which was an impressive transportvehicle.

Third on our list was Laos, where we visited a world heritage site, did some Asian style cooking (which included me biting on a red pepper, imagine someone pouring napalm in your mouth) and visited COPE centre, which is a organisation which helps bomb victims (Until this day, Laos is still the most bombed country in the world, and nobody knows it). After Anne-Fleur went home I met my dad and a friend and together we travelled to the Las Vegas of Asia, namely Macau where I gambled the equivalent of 1 euro away.. Oh gosh the horror.. Which was pretty ok after youve seen people gamble 50.000 euros away and that 3 times over! I could continue this story for many more pages, including the weird things I ate, the strange places I slept and all the adventures that happened the past 6 months. If you are interested in Singapore as your exchange destination, do not hesitate to approach me for questions, as it is a great place to stay with many advantages!
