Liberal Arts and Sciences
Liberal Arts is a relatively new phenomenon in The Netherlands, at this very moment Liberal Arts study programmes can be found in Middelburg, Maastricht, Utrecht, Amsterdam, and Tilburg.
In Medieval universities the Liberal Arts were formed by:
The Trivium: Grammar, Rhetoric, and Logic.
The Quadrivium: Geometry, Arithmetic, Music, and Astronomy
Nowadays, in Tilburg, the course Liberal Arts and Sciences consists of the following disciplines:
The logo of Extra Muros is based on the original logo of the seven liberal arts. It is modernised and adapted to the global and international perspective.
