EXTRA MUROS GENERAL ASSEMBLY, 17:30, Cube21

Join us for the second General Assembly of Extra Muros, where members come together to shape the future of our association. Taking place on February 16th in Cube 21, this assembly will be an opportunity to review and discuss the Committee Semestrial Evaluation Report presented by the board and the Independent Committee.

As active participants, you’ll have the chance to propose changes to statutes and raise any points of interest during the open floor session. Be sure to check your emails for the agenda ahead of time to stay informed.

The more members participate in the General Assembly, the stronger our decisions will be collectively. We encourage all members to join us for this important gathering.

Starting with a walk-in at 5:30 pm, the assembly will officially commence at 6:00 pm. As part of our Lustrum activities, we’ll also have some surprises prepared for you during the informal part
of the assembly. Afterwards, we’ll continue the conversation over drinks at Klein Cafe van Horen
Zeggen.

“MURDER MYSTERY”: EXTRA MUROS X ELSA TILBURG, 17:00-19:00, DZ3

Join us for an exhilarating evening of mystery and intrigue at our Murder Mystery event, hosted by our study association. Put your detective skills to the test as you and your team work together to unravel the clues and solve the case.

Divided into teams, each participant will receive a card containing vital information about the case, along with a signature collection card and the first hint leading to the initial suspect. Navigate through a series of interviews with suspects, collecting signatures and following hints to uncover the truth.

With each interview, teams will gather more clues and narrow down the list of suspects. But beware, the path to solving the mystery may twist and turn, requiring careful deduction and teamwork to crack the case.

Get ready for a thrilling adventure as you immerse yourself in this interactive game of legal deduction. Who will be the first team to correctly identify the murderer and claim victory? Join us for an evening of suspense and excitement, where every twist and turn brings you closer to uncovering the truth.

WONDER SESSION ON “TRUTH”, 17:00, Common Room

Join Extra Muros for our third Wonder Session as we delve into the profound question posed by Pilate: “‘Truth?’ said Pilate ‘What is that?’; and with that he went out again to the Jews and said, ‘I find no case against him’” (John 18:38). Inspired by this inquiry, we’ll explore the concept of truth in our contemporary world, navigating through the complexities of ‘post-truth’ culture, tribalism, pluralism, and relativism.

Featuring guest speakers Dr. Herman de Regt and Fr. Michiel Peeters, we’ll contemplate the essence of truth through philosophical lenses. Fr. Michiel Peeters draws from Gadamer’s perspective, reflecting on the intersection of truth and human experience, while Herman shares insights from Charles Sanders Peirce’s exploration of truth in scientific investigation.

WORKSHOP WITH DR. SHAHIN NASIRI, 13:00-14:00, Cube15

Join us for an exhilarating Model United Nations (MUN) simulation in collaboration with Tilburg MUN, focused on the pressing theme of climate change. Taking place on Wednesday, February 21st at 5:00 pm, this event offers a unique opportunity to enhance your critical thinking and negotiation skills.

Aspiring diplomats will engage in dynamic debates and discussions, tackling the challenges faced by small island developing states (SIDS) and coastal nations. Through role-playing exercises, participants will immerse themselves in the complexities of climate change policy-making, addressing issues such as biodiversity loss, access to drinking water, and the disproportionate impact on developing nations.

Prior to the simulation, participants will receive guidance on MUN debating style and assistance in crafting opening speeches. Whether you’re a seasoned delegate or new to the MUN format, all are welcome to join this stimulating event.
