However, if you want some more games here are a few that our editors recommended:
King’s cup
Essentials: French cards, water glass
King’s cup is a drinking game you have to play with a set of french cards, in which all the numbers have a different meaning. First you pick a glass (normal water glass, but bigger than a simple shot glass!) and put it in the middle of the table/where everyone can see it.), this is the King’s cup. Then you spread the cards face-down around the King’s cup.
Now go around in rounds and everyone picks a card, the number on the card determines the action the player has to take.
- Ace – Everyone drinks
- Two – Player can pick someone to drink
- Three – Player has to drink
- Four – Everyone has to point at the floor, the last player to do so has to drink
- Five – All people wearing white drink
- Six – All people wearing black drink
- Seven – All players has to raise their left hand up, last player lifting their hands has to drink
- Eight – the player has to choose a partner to drink with them a shot, however, until a new eight is picked up when the player who drew eight has to drink, the picked partner drinks with them!
- Nine – player has to come up with one word, then the player on their right has to find a word rhyming to that, this continues until someone is unable to find a rhyming word. That person has to drink./ Or go a round and if no one makes a mistake the player who drew the card has to drink.
- Ten – Players have to pick a category (movies, books, sport etc.) and all players starting from the right have to respond with a word that matches said category. The person who messes up drinks. / Or go a round and if no one makes a mistake the player who drew the card has to drink.
- Jack – Player has the right to make up a rule and when someone breaks that rule they have to drink. (Rule can be a word that they cannot say, or anything else)
- Queen – Player picks a random person and asks a question, then that player has to answer with a question then pick another player and so on. The first person who cannot ask a question has to drink.
- King – player has to pour some of their drinks into the King’s Cup. The last (4th) person drawing a king has to drink the whole King’s Cup.
You can also give different meanings to the cards, and play accordingly. Have fun!
Although I changed the game a bit, because it was too hetero normative.
Never have I ever
Essentials: drinks, friends
An all time classic! Just get a set of cards with questions, or google ‘Never have I ever’ questions and read them out loud to your group. The person who did the things written on a card has to take one shot. (You can also make up your own questions and go round, so everyone gets to ask the others.)
Wikinger Beer
Essentials: Beers (Traditionally Wikinger beers) wooden piece, empty bottle, a ping-pong ball
This game is from one of my brilliant German colleagues. You start by setting up a square table and dividing your group by half. Both groups have to put out their drinks on either side of the table facing each other. Then set up a piece of wood or anything relatively light and long in the middle of the table and put an empty bottle on top. To start, group A has to try to make the bottle fall by throwing the ball on the wooden piece. When the bottle falls, group B has to quickly finish their beers before group A can set the bottle back to its place. And visa versa. The first group to finish all theri beers wins.
